Biography

Shelby Norman (she/her/hers) serves as the Associate Director of Professional Development and Outreach for the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she has always been immersed in diverse expressions of southern culture and community. Shelby is an alumna of The University of Alabama, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a concentration in Political Theory, and Master of Arts degree in Women's Studies with a research concentration in Critical Gender and Race Theories. Shelby is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the EDI projects, strategies and support for the EDI Office programmatic and strategic workload. Shelby serves as the first point of contact and primary administrative support for the Associate Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity/Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Anneliese Singh. She also assists in the preparation of reports which includes statistical, demographic, and subject matter data related to EDI trends, including preparing such figures and data for widespread publication and distribution.
